Over 2 kg of cocaine in a car battery was found by Bulgarian customs officers

On February 11, 2026, the Haskovo District Prosecutor’s Office formally charged D.G., a 34-year-old senior police officer from the Vratsa Police Station, with attempting to smuggle cocaine across the border from Bulgaria to Turkey.

The incident occurred on February 10, 2026, at approximately 3 p.m. at the Kapitan Andreevo Border Checkpoint. D.G. was driving alone in her Opel passenger car when she was subjected to a customs inspection. During the search, authorities discovered a white powdery substance concealed within the vehicle’s battery. Field tests confirmed that the substance was cocaine, weighing a total of 2.348 kg and valued at approximately 51,380 euros.

This case raises significant concerns regarding the integrity of law enforcement personnel and the ongoing battle against drug trafficking in the region. Further investigations are expected as the legal process unfolds.
