The Pavilion Carlos Lopes was designed to be the Pavilion of Portuguese Industries in the 1922 during the International Exhibition of Rio de Janeiro, being built mostly with elements transported from Portugal to Brazil.
After the exhibition it was dismantled and transferred to Portugal, being implanted in Lisbon since 1932 in the Parque Eduardo VII, having been the site of the Great Exhibition of Portuguese Industry.
It was used during decades for performing sporting, cultural, artistic and political events.
With extensive refurbishment in 2016, the venue has an exceptional location in the downtown area and it is a unique venue in Lisbon with different rooms for all type of events.
The exterior of the Carlos Lopes Pavilion with decorative entrance with heavy motifs fronted by allegorical angel statues. The pavilion is also lined with azulejo panels which are nice to see as well. Have a look if walking through Parque Eduardo VII and interested in Portuguese architecture.
