One of the UK’s most wanted fugitives, included in the international “Most Wanted” campaign, has been arrested in Alicante

The Spanish Civil Guard has arrested in Alicante one of the fugitives included in the international search campaign launched by the United Kingdom against criminals linked to organized crime, coinciding with the presentation of the international campaign “Most Wanted”.

The arrest took place as part of an operation carried out in Benidorm and La Nucía (Alicante) against a network related to drug trafficking and document forgery, in which three other people have been arrested.

The investigation began in November 2025 after a tip from the manager of a parcel delivery establishment in Benidorm, where a suitcase containing 16 kilograms of hashish was located, its final destination being the United Kingdom.

Initial investigations identified the woman who made the shipment, who provided false documentation at the time of the transaction. Investigators also confirmed that she went to the establishment accompanied by another person and with logistical support from two other men, who transported the suitcase to the premises.

As the investigation progressed, the agents were able to identify those involved and confirm that one of them was among the fugitives wanted by British authorities for drug trafficking offenses, against whom there was an international arrest warrant issued at the end of 2025.

The operation, led by the Organized Crime and Anti-Drug Team (EDOA) of the Organic Unit of Judicial Police of the Civil Guard of Alicante with the support of the Fugitives from Justice Team of the Central Operational Unit (UCO), had the collaboration of the National Crime Agency (NCA) of the United Kingdom, which made it possible to confirm the identity of the main suspect and coordinate police actions.

The raids carried out in Benidorm and La Nucía involved agents from the Reserve and Security Group (ARS) of the Civil Guard in Valencia, the canine unit, and public safety patrols. Various quantities of narcotics were found in the properties, along with €4,000 in cash, false documents, and two vehicles used by the suspects.

The detainees, who are charged with drug trafficking and document forgery, will be brought before a judge. The main suspect, a 49-year-old man, will be brought before the National Court to continue with the proceedings related to his international extradition request.

This action coincides with the launch this Thursday in Alicante of a new edition of the international “Most Wanted” campaign, promoted by British authorities to locate fugitives linked to organized crime who may be hiding in various parts of Spain. The initiative is a collaborative effort between Spanish police forces and the UK’s National Crime Agency (NCA).
