Polish Border Guards conducted a roadside inspection of an Audi with Latvian license plates. It turned out that a 25-year-old Latvian citizen and a 21-year-old Spanish citizen were transporting three Bangladeshis and an Indian citizen in the car. During the investigation, it was determined that the foreigners had crossed the Polish-Lithuanian border on foot in a prohibited location, intending to reach Western Europe.
The organizers of the operation received administrative decisions obliging them to return and banning them from entering Poland and other Schengen countries for five years. They face up to eight years in prison for aiding and abetting illegal border crossings. The detained foreigners were transferred to Lithuania under the readmission agreement.
