The Spanish Civil Guard, in coordination with the GNR and the Portuguese Maritime Police, seize more than five tons of hashish

The Spanish Civil Guard, the GNR and the Portuguese Maritime Police have seized 127 bales of hashish, which had been thrown into the water after a chase of a four-engine semi-rigid boat.

The incident occurred on the night of October 21st, when the vessel was detected at the mouth of the Guadiana River in Ayamonte. A coordinated search operation was launched by sea, land, and air, involving agents from the Provincial Maritime Service, Public Safety, Pegaso Team, GRS (Rapid Intervention Group), and Air Service.

Furthermore, the operation was supported by the Spanish Maritime National Guard (GNR) and the Portuguese Maritime Police, as the crew members were observed throwing multiple bales into the sea during their escape. In total, 127 bales of hashish, weighing approximately 5 tons, were recovered.

The occupants abandoned the vessel and fled on foot. The vessel has been seized and taken to police headquarters, where it remains in custody pending judicial proceedings.
