Danijel PETKOVIC, BA is a senior investigator and case leader within Department 8 of the Austrian Criminal Intelligence Agency (Bundeskriminalamt), where he is responsible for leading and coordinating complex human smuggling investigations. His work focuses on identifying, analysing and disrupting organised smuggling networks operating within Austria and across the European Union.
With nearly 16 years of experience in law enforcement and six years within the Criminal Intelligence Agency, he has extensive operational expertise in cross-border investigations, intelligence-led policing and interagency cooperation.
Alongside his professional career, he completed a Bachelor’s degree in Public Management, further strengthening his expertise in strategic governance, security administration and institutional cooperation.

Movement, Methods and Networks: Human Smuggling Operations in Austria and the EU
In the spirit of interagency cooperation this workshop will facilitate the sharing of on the ground experience, real life case studies and share actionable intelligence on the movement of trafficked human beings via planes , boats and vehicles and the various methods by which the traffickers enable this movement.
