
Brigadier General Daniel Lichtenegger

Since 2018, Brigadier General Daniel Lichtenegger has headed the relevant specialist sub-department at the Criminal Intelligence Service Austria, which is centrally responsible for leading, coordinating investigations, national and international cooperation, and strategic orientation in this area of drug-related crime for the Federal Ministry of the Interior. With over 26 years of experience in law enforcement—including around 20 years in criminal investigations against drug-related crime—he is jointly responsible for the further development of police measures in this field. He also serves as the Federal Drug Coordinator for the Ministry of the Interior and represents Austria in relevant committees at national and international level.

In the spirit of interagency cooperation this workshop will facilitate the sharing of on the ground experience, real life case studies and share actionable intelligence on the movement of drugs, illicit goods, illegal waste, heritage goods, wildlife trafficking and modus operandi used to enable these trades.
