Polish officers from the Border Guard Post in Bydgoszcz detained two more men suspected of participating in organizing illegal border crossings into the Republic of Poland. This is the result of a consistent investigation overseen by the District Prosecutor’s Office in Bydgoszcz. Four Ukrainian citizens have been detained so far.
The evidence collected in the investigation conducted since February 2022 allowed the Border Guard officers in Bydgoszcz to identify and detain the suspects – two Ukrainian citizens aged 32 and 37, who specialized in legalizing the stay of foreigners in the territory of the Republic of Poland in violation of the regulations.
The men, working as registered businesses, fraudulently obtained false documents, such as declarations and work permits, by misleading voivodes and district labor office employees. Using these documents, foreigners obtained visas entitling them to enter and stay in Poland. According to officers, approximately 2,000 foreigners may have crossed the Polish border based on nearly 10,000 fraudulent documents.
The arrests took place in Warsaw and Koszalin, and one of these interventions took an unusual turn. During the arrest, one of the men, attempting to avoid responsibility, hid in a… sofa. However, the attempt proved unsuccessful – officers quickly found him during a search and arrested him.
