Blighter have announced that their B400 series smart electronic scanning radars have been integrated into a fleet of custom-built mobile surveillance vehicles for on-the-go monitoring of a European land border.
Developed by DAT – CON Slovenia, the mobile surveillance vans are fully equipped with radars, PTZ (pan, tilt, zoom) thermal and day/night cameras and C4i software. Extendable masts allow elevation of the radar and electro-optic system for optimum visibility and detection range.
DAT – CON’s mobile surveillance vehicles provide border authorities with a highly flexible and rapidly deployable surveillance solution to protect borders from illegal crossings, smuggling, people trafficking and other security breaches. Mobile surveillance vehicles are particularly useful in areas with limited border infrastructure and sparse human patrols as they can dynamically adjust their positions to track targets or respond to changing circumstances.
James Long, Blighter’s CEO, says “Dat-Con is an award-winning integrator with 30 plus years of experience building mobile surveillance systems. We have collaborated with them on several border projects in the past and are pleased to partner with them on this latest programme.”
Blighter radars are well suited to mobile surveillance applications due to their robust, solid-state and low power design. The patented electronic-scanning antenna technology enables the detection of small and covert threats in the most complex environments.
Blighter radars also feature low probability of intercept algorithms making them ideal for covert operations. They are designed to operate 24/7 and in all weather systems and can detect a crawler up to 6.4 km away, a walking person at up to 10 km, or a vehicle at up to 32 km.
