The Spanish Civil Guard, National Police and Tax Agency, within the framework of Operation Sustraia-Coyotes, have arrested nine members of a criminal organization from Gipuzkoa dedicated to drug trafficking.
Eight of the arrests took place in the province of Gipuzkoa and one in the town of Perenollet (Valencia). Among those arrested, all residents of San Sebastián (Gipuzkoa), are six men, two women, and a minor. Several of them have over 20 years of experience in this illegal activity.
According to the investigations, the members did not hesitate to use violence to demand payment for drug shipments. They were assigned different roles: some were dedicated to acquiring and supplying precursor substances, others to manufacturing the drugs, and still others to distributing and selling them.
In the operational phase of the operation, seven homes and four garages located in the San Sebastian neighborhoods of Amara, Loyola and Ayete, as well as in the towns of Orio and Irún, have been registered.
In addition to computer equipment and documents, various devices and products used for the production, cutting, and adulteration of drugs were seized, along with ten kilos of cocaine, 23 kilos of amphetamines or speed, and smaller quantities of other narcotics (250 grams of hashish, 47.5 grams of marijuana, 15 grams of ketamine, and six ecstasy pills), as well as cryptocurrencies and just over €21,000 in cash. A passenger vehicle and two airsoft pistols were also confiscated.
Investigators estimate that the organization may have put narcotics worth more than four million euros annually into circulation, and stress that they did not hesitate to use violence to demand payment for drug shipments.
The entire police operation has been supervised by the Civil and Instruction Section of the Court of First Instance of Irún, Plaza nº 3, with the support of the Duty Court of San Sebastián and the Prosecutor’s Office for Minors, with provisional imprisonment decreed for five of the detainees and release on bail for two others, an eighth being released and with the obligation to appear before the specialized Prosecutor’s Office, the minor.
