Mr. Seweryn Stopa joined Europol in June 2022 as Head of the European Migrant Smuggling Centre (EMSC). The EMSC is responsible for supporting EU Member States in targeting and dismantling organised criminal networks involved in migrant smuggling and trafficking in human beings. This encompasses operational and strategic support, as well as coordination and expertise offered to Member States with on the spot deployments.
Before joining Europol, Mr. Stopa spent several years as Director of the Criminal Intelligence and Investigations Department in the Polish Border Guard (Straż Graniczna). He has also served as the Polish Liaison Officer at Europol, at which time his portfolio included organised crime, trafficking in human beings and migrant smuggling.
Besides his operational and managerial experience, Mr. Stopa holds a Master Degree in Public Administration by Maria Curie Sklodowska University, Lublin, Faculty of Law and Administration.
