Rear Admiral M Ashraful Haq, NUP, ndc, afwc, psc is appointed as the Director General, Bangladesh Coast Guard Force by the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh on 10 February 2019. An officer of illustrious military career, Rear Admiral M Ashraful Haq was commissioned in Bangladesh Navy on 15 April 1985.

During his long service tenure, he discharged various responsibilities both at national and international spheres. In his glorious naval career, he successfully commanded almost all classes of Naval Ships including frigate, appointed at important staff duties, performed as various directorial capacities and as Area Commander of both Fleet and Naval Area Command. Commanding Officer of naval frigate BNS ABU BAKR, Chief Staff Officer to Commander Chattogram Naval Area, Director Naval Intelligence, Director Signals, Naval Secretary, Managing Director–Dockyard and Engineering Works Ltd Narayangonj, Commander BN Fleet, Commander Khulna Naval Area were some of his important appointments. He was also appointed as Sergeant-At-Arms at the House of Nation. Moreover, he is experienced of serving as Zonal Commander of Bangladesh Coast Guard earlier.

In his career, Rear Admiral M Ashraful Haq took part various education and training courses both at home and abroad. In the early naval life, he went to USA and China for training. Later he did his Specialization Course on Signal Communications from India. He also graduated from Defence Services Command and Staff College Dhaka and underwent Armed Forces War Course at National Defence College Dhaka. He is an alumnus of the National Defence College Delhi, India where he completed National Security and Strategic Studies Course. Despite having various military training, he also completed Senior Staff Course from Bangladesh Public Administration Training Centre. For his distinguished service and outstanding performance, he was awarded with Chief of Naval Staff’s commendation and Navy Medal of Excellence.
