Mrs. Margherita Natali is an Associate Programme Officer to the Border Security and Management Unit of the United Nations Counter Terrorism Centre of the United Nations Office of Counter Terrorism (UNOCT). Between 2013 and 2016, she served the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Italian national Police (Arma dei Carabinieri) as a consultant on terrorism prevention with the mandate to counter cybercrime, including online terrorist related propaganda. Since 2016 Margherita has worked consistently in this field at the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime as well as the International Atomic Energy Agency in Vienna. She implemented several technical assistance activities on the Use of the Internet for terrorist purposes in the Sahel and North African countries and on the responsible use of Biometrics Data in East African Countries.


She holds an LLM in International Criminal Law and in 2018 she was appointed as Associate Professor in Data Protection Law in Vienna.
