Guido Ferraro

Guido Ferraro, holds a Degree in International Law, a Master in Management, a Master in Strategic Border Management and a PhD in Maritime Affairs. He has more than 30 years of working experience in international affairs, maritime surveillance and border security. He served as Italian Coast Guard Officer for 15 years, where he worked as aircraft pilot, ship inspector during the war in Yugoslavia, and Harbour Master. In 1999, he joined the European Commission, first as Seconded National Expert and from 2004 as permanent official. At present, he works for the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission mainly on Research projects related to border security. He published around 50 scientific papers.
