Major Michael Jones joined IMPACS in March 2009 as the Deputy Director of the Joint Regional Communications Centre (JRCC), which is the sub-agency of IMPACS responsible for border security. He was subsequently appointed as Chief of Operations (COO) in September 2010 and during his tenure of leadership at the JRCC there was been an expansion of both the systems in operation as well as the number of stakeholders served. He was appointed as the Interim Executive Director of IMPACS with effect from 6 January 2018.

As COO of JRCC, he has lead responsibility for the management of the CARICOM/Caribbean Advance Passenger Information System (APIS) and is currently overseeing the implementation of the analogous cargo information system. He now has lead responsibility for the strategic policy direction for the triad entities that constitute IMPACS and one of his strategic interest is the utilization of corporate social entrepreneurship as a means of achieving financial sustainability for his agency. Michael has been a reservist in the Barbados Defence Force for the last 30 years and has a Bachelor Degree with honours in Computer Science and Mathematics and a Master of Science Degree in Project Management & Evaluation from the University of the West Indies.
